An opportunity exists to harness dissonance and chaos into resonant forces much greater in sum than parts, forged with progressive consciousness that extols the individual and uplifts the heart.

It is an art of non-linear and exponential expression, paralleling our world of agendas and emotion, with the ebb and flow of rhythm and melody. By finding balance in these forces we create a foundation for alchemy - webs of sonic texture bound through the harmonic intersection of unified pulse – biological and electrical.

These elements create the dynamic tension that propels the dance floor toward an opportunity for meditation and expansion. It’s in those states that the weight of responsibility becomes critical – with consciousness and hearts this open, are we going to take it higher, or come crashing into the drama of worry and fear? Intention suddenly becomes everything… Where’s your heart at?

Mix Architekt is about creating resonance with the elements to take experience and expression to new heights of individuality.

Much has gone on in the last months. There is now a Mrs. Architekt, a new weekly, and many new projects in the works. Let's do it for techno.

Updates are long overdue...

Why yes they are; though we have been super busy building all sorts of new things - a few tracks are completed and making their way back from mastering, two new sound and lighting installations are near completion, and we're off to the WMC tomorrow for a bit of chaos. For those of you in want of new mixes, not to worry - once we're back from travel there will be lots to listen to. Until then, drop us a line or come find us at one of the WMC events.

Rise & Fall Remix

11-04 -07

Just completed is my remix of Oliver Moldan's amazing track, Rise & Fall. The original is to be release very soon on Rapid Response Recordings and my remix will follow about 4 weeks out.

I looked at the original mix as a very special piece of music which transcended genre and plays an intense role when used thoughtfully in a DJ set. His version enables one to reset the consciousness of the dance floor and move into a very happy space, yet maintains it's intensity and never lets your feet hit the ground.

When i began work on the remix I wanted to reintroduce the basic elements that attracted me to the original and tell a different story which starts deep in space, approaching an unfamiliar star system. What follows is a surprise interface with unique life forms that morph between the animate and inanimate, leading the listener on a journey that has us jumping dimensions and stressing the limits of our being. Surviving the passage into the next frontier, we're gracefully left in safety to contemplate our experience and plan the next move.

As an incredible asset to the production of this track, the one and only Robert Babicz took care of the mastering at his studio in Cologne, Germany. He dumped the mix to his Studer A80 2 track tape deck for a wonderful analogue voicing and tape saturation, and finessed the final version to a point which focuses all of the different frequency groups to highlight their power and collective balance. His work is unparalleled in the dance music world, and I encourage all of you in need of mastering services to solicit his help - robacidmastering.de

I'll post the details of the official release once they manifest. Untill then please listen and enjoy, share your thoughts if you'd like. A very special thanks to my global sounding board for dealing with all the versions and mania. Your help is crucial!

For now, head over to my myspace page and take a listen...

The Funky Kind...

10-08-07

From a nebulous connection that birthed unique discourse and nerdie friendship comes the new Mix Architekt feature on Brooklyn's amazing web radio experience, thefunkykind.com

For the uninitiated, TFK is a nexus of love and music with countless on line mix sets available to stream or download, accompanied by artist interviews, blogs and event info to add some personal depth to the art being shown. Each month you're presented with another facet of funk as expressed through the many forms of dance music, complete with commentary from our smart and witty host, B. She offers a special outlet for the truly progressive elements of DJ culture; it is a window from the future welcoming all to a digital gathering of the Funk. For October, I'll be your guide.

The mix compiled for Brooklyn's site is a very intense journey of contrast in harmony, rhythm, and lyrics; it's a complex reflection on this strange summer we just got through and after sorting it's emotional baggage indulges in some healthy escapism.

The intention was to stretch the elements of beauty and dissonance to their limit, drop into pure and simple soul, then climb out of the transporter and explore a fresh sonic reality. Mixes are long and evolving, creating very unique remixes of not so commonly grouped tracks. Special use of the Allen & Heath VF-1 filter aided in getting all the parts to fit just right, or take the intensity up a notch with some aggressive tube drive and resonance.
